Studio setup
Choose who manages an artist's bookings
For: Studio owners and managers
Where: Studio → Settings → Policies → Roster; then Studio → Roster → an artist → Booking authority
Studio managed is the default: your front desk, manager or owner books that artist. Artist managed lets that artist create clients and appointments for their own column. Studio staff can still book the same artist.
- If you want artist-managed booking, an owner first opens Settings → Policies → Roster and turns on Allow artist-managed booking.
- Open Roster and select the artist.
- Under Booking authority, set Who books this artist to Artist managed and select Save. You can leave other artists as Studio managed.
- Ask the artist to open Artist → Schedule to make their own appointments. These also appear on the studio calendar.
Artist-managed booking requires active Artist Pro access. Artists receive a Professional Starter period when they first sign in; check the artist's access if the option is unavailable. A linked read-only external calendar also prevents switching that roster seat to artist-managed booking until the feed is removed.
Payments and waivers are separate choices. Letting an artist book does not automatically let them collect payments or clear waivers. If needed, the owner enables each studio-wide option under Policies → Roster, then an owner or manager enables it for that particular artist under Roster → Booking authority. Both are off by default.
This does not turn on public self-booking. Client-facing requests follow your separate portal settings.
